On National Make A Difference Day, members of the Denver Modern Woodmen of America chapter will sponsor a fundraiser Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 1-4 pm to benefit Project Linus at 8126 S. Parker Road in Parker. This is the northeast corner of Parker & Stroh Roads.
Plans for the fundraiser include: award winning barbecue, silent auction, blanket making, book signing by Karen Loucks Rinedollar- Project Linus Founder, Denver Coordinator and Author of Working for Peanuts: The Project Linus Story and more! Denver Broncos players Champ Bailey, Lonie Paxton and Mitch Unrein have shown their support of Project Linus’ efforts by signing Broncos apparel that will be among some of the items available at this event. A donation of $15 per adult and $5 for children of 12 years and younger is suggested for the meal. The money raised will be matched by Modern Woodmen’s home office, up to $2,500, through the fraternal benefit society’s Matching Fund Program and will be used for supplies to make Project Linus blankets for children in need of comforting.
Project Linus was founded in the Denver metro area to provide handmade security blankets to seriously ill and traumatized children. In its 15 years of existence, Project Linus has grown from a grassroots effort to having 370 chapters around the country and delivering over 3.9 million blankets worldwide.
